TO THE WOMAN I LOVED IN WAR

Last night I dreamed of her again
A woman I loved in war
In the Jungles
In the chaos
Of the Vietnam War

I bathed her often with soft and tender love
Cared for her like no other
I touched her often
As I never touched a woman before

She talked with me late into the night
Then, slept silently by my side
My arms around her
All through the fire fight

She hungered for my touch
The times we shared together
She gave me her warm and tender love
And I loved her like no other

She loved it when I held her tight
Never cried when I squeezed with all my might
She screamed and loved to sing and dance for me
Always faithful, always at my side
Her scent remains forever

When it rained I covered and kept her warm
She knew she was mine to have and to hold
I loved her so, never wanted to let her go

Some said she was cold, ruthless and mean
She did her part in the battle scene
There, I loved and held her tight
We sang together in the jungle and by the sea
In the twilight of the night
There her glow became well known
When she melted in my arms
Delivering all her charms

We sang and danced together far through the night
Then the enemy took her away from me
We were there by the riverside
When an enemy's bullet struck her side

I called the corpsmen by his name
He gave me bandages and tape to hide the shame
She held herself together, sang, cried and wondered why?
While the enemy shouted, "Marine tonight you die"

Bandaged and bleeding by my side
She would not let them come close to me
So she gave up her strength and womanhood
For a Marine to live she understood

It's been years since I last held her in my arms
Years since I slept with her and her charms
Years since I smelled her scent of love
Felt her sweetness and caress
My M60, my woman, my love
Our Memories shared forever
In the battlefield
